Binance.US today announced the appointment of Krishna Juvvadi as Vice President, Head of Legal. In this role, Krishna leads the day-to-day operations of the company’s legal department, helping to support the organization’s continued build out and advancing its efforts to become the most compliant digital asset platform in the United States. He reports to Binance.US General Counsel, Norman Reed.
Prior to joining Binance.US, Krishna served as Global Head of Operations Compliance at Uber Technologies Inc., where he built and led a global cross-functional team of operations professionals, data analysts, product managers, and engineers to solve some of Uber’s most challenging and exigent operations issues across its product lines. He was the first regulatory attorney at Uber and previously served as its Chief Regulatory Counsel, where he designed Uber’s global regulatory strategy and helped in its efforts to secure legislation and regulations at the local, state, and federal level in markets throughout the world.
“Krishna is a skilled legal practitioner whose experience shaping and implementing the regulatory strategy of Uber translates extremely well to our similarly nascent, fast-growing business and industry,” said Brian Shroder, CEO of Binance.US. “We recognize the importance of remaining responsive to and complying with the evolving rules and regulations governing the crypto ecosystem, and we continue to attract and invest in top legal and compliance talent to ensure this priority remains at the forefront of our operations.”
"I am thrilled to join Binance.US and have been impressed by the significant, purposeful steps the company has taken in recent months to bolster its legal and compliance efforts,” said Mr. Juvvadi. “I look forward to working closely with Norman and the rest of our talented colleagues to guide the company’s legal strategy and maintain the trust of our customers and regulators.”
Before Uber, Krishna was a Partner at SL Environmental Law Group, where he represented the State of New Hampshire against several major oil companies in a statewide groundwater contamination case and successfully tried the largest and most complex trial in New Hampshire history. For his work, Krishna was named California Lawyer Attorney of the Year and was a Finalist for Public Justice’s Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2014.
Earlier in his career, Krishna served as a Trial Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, where he litigated violations of federal civil rights laws. He received his law degree from the University of California’s School of Law and his bachelor's degree from Northwestern University.
Krishna’s appointment as Vice President, Head of Legal comes on the heels of several milestone events at Binance.US. Last month, the company raised over $200 million in its seed round at a pre-money valuation of $4.5 billion. The proceeds from the round will be used to enhance Binance.US’s spot trading platform, develop a suite of new products and services to be introduced in the near-term, and invest in marketing and consumer education initiatives. Moreover, last week, Binance.US listed the 100th token on its platform as it continues to expand the number of tokens and trading pairs available for customers, while offering the low fees for which Binance.US is known.
Welcome to the team, Krishna!
