Binance.US today announced the appointment of Tammy Weinrib as Chief Compliance Officer. In this role, Tammy will lead Binance.US’s compliance efforts, including the company’s know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money-laundering (AML) programs, and engage with regulators and law enforcement agencies across the United States. In her new role, Tammy will report to Binance.US Chief Risk Officer Sidney Majalya.

Tammy is a recognized subject matter expert in financial crimes, BSA/AML, KYC, and fintech. Prior to joining Binance.US, Tammy served as Vice President of the Financial Crime Compliance department at Societe Generale, where she designed both FinCEN and KYC regulatory frameworks and developed FCC and AML policies, procedures, and controls.
Prior to Societe Generale, Tammy was the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer at Gemini, where she helped to lead the cryptocurrency exchange's compliance and risk programs, including integrating BSA/AML/OFAC regulatory requirements, KYC framework, controls framework, and transactional monitoring systems alignment to encompass legacy financial institution and digital currency regulatory requirements.

Earlier in her career, Tammy held key compliance roles at several financial institutions and consulting firms, including Crowe Horwath LLP, Royal Bank of Scotland, Brown Brothers Harriman, Standard Chartered Bank, and Citigroup, Inc.
Tammy holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Florida State University and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University. She is recognized as a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) from the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS).
Tammy’s appointment as Chief Compliance Officer marks the latest addition to Binance.US’ senior leadership team and follows the recent appointments of Sidney Majalya as Chief Risk Officer, Norman Reed as General Counsel, and Carol Mackinlay as Chief People Officer.
